Sharing Media and Insights about Persuasive Technology

interesting persuasion strategy: tunneling and reduction

We're seeing this more and more as a theme in Web 2.0 websites, where simply entering the home page accomplishes much more than just reading information. A relationship is built between the user and the webpage purely by nature of their visit to the page. It will be interesting to watch this trend as it develops.

One downside to the trend is that while this works well for new users, tunneling for experienced users may be annoying, and even for new users, being thrown into usage of the service, or a signup process simply for having visited may be jarring.
